| highlanddancemom0300:35 UTC15 Jun 2007 | Hello!
I will be travelling with a dance group to Peru this August and would like to arrange to take a guided tour of Lima while we are there. There are approximately 15 of us going, and the ages range from 11 years old to over 40. Does anyone have a recomendation for a great tour? I'd appreciate any suggestions you can offer.
Thanks!

Definitely some areas that are not good to take a group like you describe, but you should be fine taking a tour during the day. There are many agencies that offer tours of the city. A half day tour should be $20-30/person and you should be able to get a better rate since you have a group. Another option would be a tour of some of Lima's museums. Pachacamac is about 30km south of Lima and would be another interesting 1/2 day trip. It was a ceremonial center prior to the rise of the Incas and they built a temple to the sun at this spot when they came to control the region. Enjoy your visit!

In fact, since they obviously appreciate culture, they may well find Lima fascinating. I suggest a trip to Brisas de Titicaca to see some fantastic indigenous dances featuring fabulous costumes.

You're right! We're definately not looking for a "Disney-like" experience! We want to experience the culture of Peru. The most exciting part of this trip for our dancers (and chaperones) is the once in a life time opportunity for a lot of us to see a part of the world that me might not have otherwise ever been able to see.
Our goal is to get the most out this adventure! Our concern is of course safety. Most of the travellers in the group are in their twenties and older; however, we do have three under age dancers (my 14 year old daughter being one of them), so we want to make sure that while we're getting to experience first hand the history and culture of Peru we're not venturing off into somewhere potentially dangerous for the girls.
Thank you so much for all your suggestions and comments! I greatly appreciate your opinions!
