Closing time for the Brazil-Argentina border at Iguazu

Country forums / South America / Brazil

Hi there, could anyone please advise the opening and closing times for the Brazil-Argentina border at Iguazu falls (in December 2014)?

Just in case someone wants the background: My friends and I arrive at 3pm and want to store our bags at the Brazilian side airport or at the park entrance, and go straight in to the Brazilian side of the falls to see them 4-6pm. The next day we want to see the Argentine side and then fly out of the airport on the Argentine side at 4pm. So we are trying to work out whether we should cross the border from Brazil to Argentina after 6pm on the first day, or before 9am on the second day to get max time at the falls.

Thanks for the advice on opening/closing times of the border :)

I don't think there is a 'closing' time as such. From my understanding people cross all the time (work/nightlife etc). Will it be open at 6pm or just after - I would say yes mainly because a lot of people actually travel over from Puerto Iguazu to Foz for the falls. And it will be open by 9am, I went over at about 8am, open but traffic was heavy.

You might not get a 'bus' from Foz to Puerto at that late time (after 6pm). So you may need to take a taxi.

Thanks Trent84, I appreciate it. Also the Iguazu (argentine-side) visitor center got back to me/replied and they also confirmed what you said: the border is open 24/7.

As a side note for anyone else who might be interested, during summer the opening/closing schedule for the parks are:
Argentinian side: 08:00 to 18:00 hs.
Brazialian side: 09:00 to 17:00 hs.
Thanks again Trenty84 for replying.
