closed refugios/campsites in Torres del Paine?

Country forums / South America / Chile

My husband and I are planning on hiking the circuit in mid-December. We will carry our own tent, but we were hoping to limit the amount of food to carry. However, I have heard that currently refugios Dickson and Grey and camping los Perros are closed. I assume that means no food for sale there either-- can anyone confirm that?

Does anyone have information on whether they will be opening in the next month or two? What about camping Puesto Serron-- as far as people know, is there food for sale there? I know once we get around to Paine Grande we'll be able to get food at the lodges, but is there any other way to avoid carrying our food for the bulk of the trip?
Thanks a lot!

Well, of course, in mid-Decembre, everything will be open. Prices for food in the park are very steep.

THanks for the reply-- but I am under the impression that they are closed because the company that was operating them was no longer doing so, and so it's unclear who will have the concession and whether it will be resolved by December. If you have information to the contrary, that would be welcome!!
