Christmas in Patagonia/South Chile/South Argentina

Hi all,

I'm going to be in the Southern Chile/Southern Argentina Patagonia region during Christmas and New Year before I head up to Buenos Aires in the 2nd week of January at some point. Could anyone give me some advice on where the best places to aim to be in for this time? As it's the holiday season I expect the hostels to be quickly booked up but as I haven't got a fully planned day-to-day itinerary I wanted to have some places to book in and aim to be in before all the places fill up.

All suggestions welcome! As unique a Christmas and New Year as I can get :)

Hostels in that time period will book quickly - its peak season for trekking etc so its the time to visit. Though, a few years I went and had no issue booking accom a day or two before.

Best places - home? In reality, things will be fairly normal and maybe a bit quiet for Christmas and NYE. If you want a big party for NYE then perhaps Ushuaia or Bariloche would be the better places to visit at that time.
