Canaima: river lavels still too low?Country forums / South America / Venezuela
Hi, thanks for your replies for my previous questions. One of these included the info that boat trips up to Angel Falls were impossible about two weeks ago. Would anyone know if that is still the case? Also I wonder how the four-hour power cuts involve everyday life, like transport or office hours, as it's a new experience for most people i guess. Thanks again for your answers!
If it doesn't rain, Angel Fals boat trip won't be available for a while. We are having a weird, strong dry season by this time of the year, when we should be having some rains. Only sightseeing flight over the Angel Falls are available in Canaima by now. On the other hand, the four-hour power cuts... Venezuela is working. Power cuts have come more usual in the last two years, scheduled or sudden, ha ha. Some towns have worse power distribution than other ones, but, as this is said, here are, the country is working anyway, believe it or not. | 1
Hello Rromani, Boat expeditions from Canaima to the base of the Falls will resume approx. in May/ June when the rainy season starts again. As for now, boats will only get to Isla Orquidea. Overflights are most common at this time of year since the Falls themsleves never dry up. As for power cuts, they will continue to be a problem until the rains start and get the hydroelectric turbines at the Gui damm working again. Travel safe, All the best, Thomas | 2
