Buying ticket for more than 90 days?

Country forums / South America / Colombia

I want to stay in Colombia more than 90 days. I know I can renew my tourist visa by 90 days.
But will I have problems getting on my plane with a ticket that is more than 90 days.
I have heard stories...
So do I have to book a ticket for less than 90 days and then when I'm in colombia rebook it for longer than 90 days.
Or will I be fine just book it for the first time longer than 90 days...
Flying from Brussels -Belgium...

Thank you!!

I went with Lufthansa from Frankfurt to Bogota in early October 2015. My return was with Avianca (also Star Alliance) in late January 2016. Around the same time in October 2015 my brother travelled with Tap Portugal from Lisboa to Bogota with a return from Brazil in April 2016.

Never heard of this being an issue as long you have a return ticket. I have also travelled to Colombia (Cartagena) with no return ticket, although a few years ago now.

I am sure someone else will reply if they have had issues.

99% sure you will be fine. People do trips often where they might fly into Bogota and then go to Ecuador and Peru and then loop back to Colombia. There's nothing to say you are necessarily staying in Colombia the whole time.
