Hi,
I am travelling to Buenos Aires on November 12th and I wanted to go and visit this Iguazu Falls. Flights are coming up quite expensive as well as tours. I was wondering has anyone driven it from Argentina before and can you visit the falls alone without a tour guide?
If anyone is in Buenos Aires from 13th - 27th and would like to drive to the falls please send me a message :)

You could consider taking a bus as well. it was around 1050 pesos in Dec 2016.
You don't need a guide for the falls. There are well defined routes inside the park with free maps and multiple sign board to read info from.
I went to both sides without a guide and did not meet anyone in my hostel who took a guided tour of the falls.
You have a fair amount of time. A bus is quite cheap as Manisha suggests. It does take up to 18 hours for a bus from BsAs to Puerto Iguazu. So you might need to take that into account. Though, the buses can be quite luxurious (eg flat lay seats).
No need for tours. There are buses between both sides from Puerto Iguazu to Foz and back. ANd buses to the park entrance. Its actually better - I saw a massive line of cars on entry to the park in Argentina and the bus went straight past them all.
Be aware that you may (it says Australian on your profile) need a visa to enter Brasil (at the moment we need a visa to enter, its about 250 AUD last time I checked). So take that into account. There are reports that you might not need it just to visit the waterfalls - but thats a risk you can only determine.
Flights within Argentina are expensive. Gringos get gouged on those flight prices. Booking ahead will help massively.
Buses are great in Argentina,some of the best in the world.
As above,no need for a guide.Its pretty obvious where to go when you are inside,and there are signs and maps everywhere.
I was last year at the Iguazu falls in November and would not come back... it was super hot and humid!! I would go to Patagonia instead. Good luck!
Just want to stress how good the buses are in Argentina - we were served champagne on one of them! There's loads of space and you can lie flat (like 1st class on a flight). We loved Iguazu. (here's our overview - http://2britsabroad.blogspot.co.uk/2014/09/chasing-rainbows-at-iguazu-falls_27.html )
Thank you so much everyone for your messages. I was looking for other ways to get there but nothing came up about the overnight bus. I will definitely 100% get that booked and it is good to know that no tour guide is required, I really didn't have $500 to pay for a guide.
