I'm travelling to Argentina in a couple of weeks, and would like to find some books about Argentine history to read before I go and while I'm there. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am mostly interested in 20th century history.
Im reading an excellent book on the economic crash of 2001 called "And the Money Kept Rolling In (And Out) by Paul Blustein. I feel that the economic crisis was a very important part of Argentine history and the repercussions are still very visible today in Buenos Aires. You may also want to read about Argentina's Dirty War and learn more about the disappeared (30,000). I dont know of any good books. Once I read a book in college about a woman who survived imprisionment and tortue during the dirty war. IT was excellent but I can't remember the name of the book. | 1
A recommend "Brece Historia Contemporánea de la República Argentina" written by Romero. It is not long and quite easy to read. It´s in Spanish, though. I don´t know if an English edition has been released | 2
