Airline Tix: SFO to LPB? (Or to Santa Cruz, BO?)

Country forums / South America / Bolivia

Hey Folks,

Looking for tips on where to buy airline tickets. Consolidators? Or just TACA. Cost is most important factor.

On the verge of buying my ticket. Headed to Sucre for Language lessons but need to get over the equator first.

Dates of travel are roughly: 8-15-10/17, but I'm flexible by a week or so.

Best Fare I'm finding San Francisco, CA-La PAZ, BO is around $950.

Any chance of finding something significantly cheaper? Recommendations for consolidators who will actually save me a significant amount of money? (I'm in the Bay Area, CA, US, I'm also amenable to flying into Santa Cruz BO if that would be cheaper.)

Or should I just grin and bear it and book with TACA. (Apparently United Mileage Plus is not an option to Bolivia.)

Thanks for your advice!

The cheapest flights USA to Bolivia are Miami - Santa Cruz - aerosur (www.aerosur.com) flies 4 times a week for about $500 return and an expedia search brought up AA flights for around $650 return - so if you can use air points or can get a cheap internal flight San Fran to Miami you could save yourself a hundred or 2.

From Santa Cruz - it costs just $45 to fly to sucre (1hr) or $10 on 17hr bus hope that helps

I flew with AA to LPB. The planes are old and rickety, but acceptable. Check out kayak.com... and cheapoair.com had cheap flights. I ended up booking through expedia. I booked last minute and found the ticket for $100+ less than what your finding and certainly less than what was coming up months earlier. I flew from SFO.
