A week in Sur Chico, itinerary help

Planning to go to Chile in November for 2 1/2 weeks and need some itinerary help. The reason for the trip is to get to Easter Island where we will spend at least 5 days, then a few days in Santiago and maybe a couple in Valparaiso. So that leaves us a week. We like hiking and outdoors things, as well as cultural activities and are thinking of going to the Lakes district area. Should we base ourselves out of one place for the week, like Pucon or Puerto Varas, or split our time between the two? Or would it be better to go to Puerto Varas and Chiloe? Ideas?
