happy new year to all! I am officially booked for Peru June 1-June 10

My travel plans usually happen when I see something I think is cool, obsess about it for a week or two, then book flights and worry about the rest later.

Original idea was to hike Santa Cruz with 2 nights in Huaraz to acclimate, last night or so in Lima. Now that I've jumped into the deep end of planning this trip Ausangate seems cool also.

If YOU had to pick one.. which would it be- Santa Cruz or Ausangate? Anyone here…

I have what is hopefully a quick question to answer, about trekking to Machu Picchu. I've tried searching the forums and the internet for this, but couldn't find a definitive answer.

Is the "classic" MP trek the only one where you camp the night before, and then wake up and walk straight into MP rather than take a bus/shuttle from Aguas Calientes? It seems that Salkantay and all the other alternate treks require you to stay in a hotel and take an early bus to MP, but I want to be sure of this…

Dear fellow travelers,

My fiance and I will be spending 3 weeks in Peru & Bolivia for our honeymoon in June 2018.
I've come up with the following itinerary so far.

Could you please point out if there are some big mistakes or inconsistencies in this travel plan?
Is there anything you would definitely add or leave out?
Any other suggestions?

We have only booked our in- and outbound tickets so far.

REMARK: part of our itinerary is in Bolivia and I will post this question in the appropriate

Hi there has anyone booked with a tour company called Amazon wildlife peru for tours in May, June, or July and seen Jaguars with them during that specific timeframe? They claim those 3 months are good for spotting them on 7, 8, and 9 day tours into the Manu Reserved or Biosphere zone but they haven't given me much in the way of specifics of how often they see them. Of course I realize there are no guarantees in nature but I'd like to get a feel for how good my chances are. If anyone has any…

Hello there :)

Alright so it's my first time in Peru (also backpacking) and I have a little under 3 months to play with, with almost half of that already planned out & to be spent off-grid out in the jungle near Iquitos...i.e. I will have gotten my fill of the jungle in for this trip.

I have another month - from March 6 to April 9 - to explore other parts of the country! I would very much love some words of wisdom on this. (And please pardon the newbie million silly questions LOL!)
A rough…

Hi all,

I am arriving from MEX to LIM at 3:15 PM, then I have my domestic flight to AQP at 6:15 PM - Assuming my flights will be on time - will it be enough time to go through immigration, security, change terminals and check my luggage for next flight? :/ many thanks for your help!

I'll be travelling to Argentina > Peru > Colombia through Feb - April, and so would be in Peru in March.

I definitely want to spend some time in Cusco and the sacret valley, as well as Iquitos. Given the climate, and last year's flooding - does it make more sense to reschedule Peru to April?

Is the weather likely to be meaningfully different in March v. April? It's a much less convenient travel route I think, and would add a few extra flights. Getting from Patagonia, to Colombia, to Cusco…

Hello!

When I arrived in Lima airport I got a stamp in my pasport for 3 months stay. Now I am reading all these things about how you need a tarjeta andina??

I will cross border with Bolivia soon but want to re-enter in May as my parents will come for a visit.
As I don't have this form I am kinda worried that they will not let me back in Peru.

Help please, any advice is welcome!

Hi All, I am planning an April trip to Peru mainly for the Santa Cruz trek. I'm 32 in NJ and am pretty fit/ used to long hikes, but have no real way to train for the altitude.
My concerns are with AMS.
Last year we hiked in AZ, UT and when first arriving in Flagstaff (7,000ft) I did feel mild symptoms- woozy, no appetite.
After a quick meal the symptoms subsided within an hour and I felt totally fine for the rest of the trip.

I am currently planning on spending 2 nights in Huaraz to acclimate…
