Hi,

My wife and i have booked the classic 4 day trek to machu picchu in early July. The agency we've booked with has a 5th night option in Aguas Calientes, of which we'll have to find lodging and pay the entrance fee again to enter the park. If we did stay that extra night we would have to head back that following day to Cuzco to make a 15:35 flight to La Paz. So if we did stay the extra night we would enjoy the extended evening on the 4th day and presumably some of the morning on the 5th day…

I will be needing to book a couple domestic flights for my trip. We'll be going to and from Puerto Maldonado (from Cuzco) and from Cuzco to Lima. My question is, what is the best method of booking these flights? Is booking them ahead of time on the internet our best bet? Or should we book them when we arrive in Peru (we won't be needing the flights until about 2 and half weeks later). I'd like to book them as far in advance as possible, has anyone had experiences booking domestic flights through…

Hi there,

I am currently in Quito, Ecuador, and will be traveling to Peru in the next week, hopefully by the 1st of June. I am supposed to meet up with some friends in Cuzco around the 15th of June, but was wondering if anyone was heading that way or would be interested in a traveling partner for a bit. I have been in and out of Ecuador for the last 4 months and am semi-fluent in Spanish, but traveling sola as girl still makes me a bit nervous, especially when crossing into new countries.

I´m…

Hi,

I am planning to visit Peru around 6/10-17 (only a week). I have some questions:

1- Do you suggest that I should book a (Lan Peru) fight between Lima and Cuzco as soon as possible, or can I do it in a few days advance?

2- Also, should I book the backpack train between Cuzco and Aguas Calientes much in advance or can I do it a day before?

3-How much is the entrance fee for Machu Picchu now? Do they have 2 days ticket?

4-Is flying over Nazca line worth expensive tour price? Do you recommend any…

Hi All,
I am in Huarez and unfortunately do not have enough time (or energy!) to hike around the beautiful Cordillera Huayhuash or any other multiday treks. I would however, like to see the Cordillera Blanca as best as possible with 1 or 2 of these day tours offered to me. There are Laguna de Llanganuco, Chavin de Huantar and Puya Raymondi- Pastori glacier. I am most interested in seeing the best views of the Cord Blanca, but do enjoy ruins and lagunas as well. Are these day trips worth it? I…

I have seen where you can do a day hike between these sites. But none of the guidebooks seem to give specific directions. I was wondering if anyone could tell me where to start, which direction to go, and what order to see the sites? Is the path easy to follow (not concerned with difficulty)?

Sorry for another Machu Pichu question... but I really couldn't find any info on this while searching the branch.

We are planning to go to Machu Pichu through the Santa Teresa backroad in our own car (well actually borrowed) in early june.

????My principal question is if there is anywhere safe place to park a car in Santa Teresa or the Hydroelectric????? (hostel, hotel, guarded park..)

Then I would love to hear from anyone who has done it!! How is the road? Difficulties?? Is the trek long (going…

Hello there,

I have a question about the requirement for VISUM, I tried to search for it on www.embassyworld.com, but I could only find that no visum is required when you're stay is no longer than 90 days.
But what if you don't have a flight to leave the country? Is that ok without visum? Or do you have to have a return flightticket to prove that you are really going to leave the country again within 90 days?

And to be sure, the maximum stay for tourist without Visum of 90 days, is that counted…

Hi all

I hope you are not too tired by the same old question but... I and my girlfiend would love to visit Peru (and Bolivia if there is enough time on our hands) either in Novemeber 2007 (unfortunately I cant make it earlier) or May 2008. We want to do a fair bit of mountain trekking (M.P., Huascaran) but while there we obviously want to see other places of interest too. Now the question is - is it okay, I mean weather-wise, to go in November or does it pay to be a little patient and wait until…
