Help!
I am going to be working in Lima from Aug 3-11, in something that is fairly intense, and I've decided to take 3 days at the end of my time there (evening of the 12-15) before flying back to work. Last year when I did this, I took a longer amount of time and hiked to Machu Picchu. That was too much, I learned, as I was FAR too exhausted for something like that.
This year, I'm trying to find something that might be beautiful and relaxing. I have been looking at 2-3 day gentle jungle tours…
Hey Everyone.
Just a quick question 'bout entering peru and visa and travel requirements. i'm Irish and have been told that i don't need a visa to travel in Peru. What i do need to enter the country however is to show that i have a flight out of Peru, but I plan to travel by bus into Bolivia. it has been known to happen to some travelers to get turned away when filling in entry forms to the country. Should i book a flight out to be sure i don't get caught up in this red tape?
Any help would be…
We're arriving in Cusco on July 23rd & have 4 days to explore it & the Sacred Valley before we set off on the Machu Pichu trek on the 27th. Should we stay in a hotel in Cusco the whole time & take day trips to various places in the Sacred Valley? Or should we get out of Cusco for one night, perhaps two, and spend the night e.g. in Ollantaytambo? We don't want to run around too much as we're resting & acclimatizing for the big trek. Thanks for your help.
I am going to ask the question that everyone moans about b/c it is so difficult to answer for strangers...
I will be arriving in Peru on 9/9. I have 3-4 days to do something before I do the four day Inca Trail. What should I do? I want to do something really meaningful. Something that really helps me see the culture/people/local flavor of the country. I am (somewhat?) ashamed to say that seeing a ton of ruins isn't my cup of tea, and I am not that interested in "local" markets b/c I feel…
I managed to visit some amazing places and got to know some great people during my travels in Ecuador, Colombia and Peru last year and in 2005 and have been taking a trip down memory lane organising some of my photos from these trips, as well as some here in Scotland, so hope you don't mind me sharing them with you - www.thebigpicturelibrary.com/amanda - let me know what you think.
Hi,
Any advice about the standard of transport between La Paz and Cuzco and how long it takes?
Thanks
Hi there,
I have hit a bit of strife with my travelling times!!! I am wondering if anyone has any ideas to help me out to cut down the travelling time. Unfortunately I booked back in England with advice from travel agents saying it would be easy to catch a bus, for most parts between countries, but since being in Central America I now know how the conditions of the roads impact on the travelling time!
I am due to fly into Quito mid July from Panama and have now realised it will take me 36 hours…
I LOVE ceviche! And I'm travelling to Peru in a month for the very first time.
Question: is this essentially non-cooked dish safe for outsiders to eat? Logic tells me that although the fish and seafood are cooked by citric juices, the possibility of bacterial infection would be high.
Am I right? Wrong? Other? (I hope I'm wrong!)
peace
i am wondering if i should stay overnight at Sacred valley?
here is a part of my itinerary:
Sun - Cusco
Mon - Cusco
Tues - inca trail
Wed - inca trail

Fri - Aguas Calientes
Sat - Cusco
Sun - Cusco OR Sacred Valley?
Mon - staying at lima
Tues -late night flight back home
- is it worth travelling to and staying at sacred valley on sunday(is it too rushed?)? (i have been reading a lot abt their market on sunday)
- what is the best way to get there?
- I will need to get a flight to Lima…
I am planning on taking perurail from Cuzco to Aguas Calientes, staying two nights in AC and then taking the train back. If I purchase a roundtrip ticket, can the tickets be used on different days or do I need to buy two one way tickets? Also, I will be traveling on July 2nd and want to know if I must buy tickets from the perurail website in advance or if it's a safe enough bet just to get them in Cuzco when I arrive. Thanks for your help.
