Hello,

My wife and I just got to Peru and would be spending about a month here. We have a very general itinerary but want to get some advice and alternative routes that might save us time and money. Here is what we are thinking so far

Lima (we are already here) until Dec 4
Lima - Ica - Hucachina - 2 days
Ica- Arequipa (4 days)
Arequipa - Cusco (7 days )
Cusco back to Lima
Lima - Huaraz (4 days)

After Huaraz, we want to go to Iquitos but that sounds impossible without coming back to lima or take…

I attempted to buy tickets for Machu Picchu for next Jan. First attempt failed as payment page froze after 5mins. When I tried again with the same personal info, the website doesn't allow me to continue purchasing as "there has been a reservation of the same name". Since I am sure I didn't pay for it, nor did I receive any confirmation of my previous reservation - how can I cancel the previous "reservation" and make a fresh new one?

Has anyone else experienced the same issue? Please share…

Hi All,
I will be spending a week in Lima and a week in the Cusco/Machu Piccu area at the beginning of February 2017.

Any suggestions for filling up my time in Lima--are there enough interesting sights in or near the city?
What things should I not miss around Cusco/Machu Piccu?
Thanks very much for any advice you can give!

Hi,
Does anyone know a bus service straight from Cusco to Copacabana that arrives early enough there to take the 8am boat to Isla del Sol?
Thank you!!!

Hey! I am thinking of buying tickets to cuzco and go to trek from there to machu picchu, is it cheaper way to do machu picchu rather than do it from lima? Is it cheaper way to get to cuzco than flying because the tickets are like 100e back and forth. Also does anybody have some tips what to do in lima and cuzco?

Hey guys, i will be backpacking around Peru from January, predominantly spending most of my time in Iquitos towards the latter end of my trip. I will be taking all of my own wild camping equipment, hammock, tarp etc and was wondering if anyone of you know of any reserves in this area that allow people with their own equipment to go camping. I am by no means a survival expert but the idea of an expedition where by someone else carries all of my food and supplies and or supplies and equipment are…

Hello,

Wondering if a critique could be done of my itinerary for April to May 2017. I have 26 days (this is total so minus get there and travel day) and a super rough outline after reading some of the things on this forum. But I have questions regarding some of the end of my trip.

For the first part of the trip, my husband and I want to do the Salkantay Trek in Cuzco and do some jungle sightseeing in Manu or Puerto Maldonado. To take full advantage of the time and not backtrack, I think it…

We have the choice of either doing 4 days in Cusco and allocating 2 days to go to Lake Titicaca or just spending 6 days in Cusco. Does anyone here have insight on what would be the best choice? Is Lake Titicaca and an overnight stay there worth it? Are four days enough in Cusco considering that two of them are holiday days? The Lake Titicaca Trip would add about $300/person to our trip cost, too. Here are the two itineraries:

Option A:
1. Dec 17 -- Arriva in Lima
2. Dec 18 -- See Lima
3. Dec 19 --…

I left the last week of my two month honeymoon to South America free with the aim of relaxing somewhere special en route to Lima before flying out of there. My husband and I would like to relax somewhere comfortable and not over the top expensive but we are willing to splash out more than than the average backpacker budget for the right place. We would like to be near a beach but we could be swayed elsewhere. Any quirky suggestions are welcome. Our last stop before Lima will be Paracas. We are…
