Hello! I'm casting my net wide, hoping to get some info that will help me focus my research!

I am working on a week-long (give or take a day or two) trip to Peru in either March or April 2017, with my boyfriend AND my parents. He & I are 40 and fit and adventurous; they are 70 and are unable to do more than easy stroll/hikes and slightly less adventurous.

The main priority is seeing Machu Picchu, with the 40s wanting to hike Huayna Picchu. Otherwise, we are OPEN, and I'd love advice. Some…

Has anyone been to Pampas Galeras Reserve to observe/help with the vicuna round up & shearing.
Will there be one in 2017, or do we wait until 2018?

Has somebody done this trek to MP recently?
I wonder if I still can go there without permit or so.
It was no problem few years ago, but what about now?
If you know anything, please reply)
Thanks!

We four persons are planning a road trip in the end of September 2017.
Our route is Lima, Pisco (Paracas), Ica, Nazca, Arequipa, Puno, Cuzco.
This is our first Peru trip, we have no idea about the road situation along our route above, especially the security.
Is there any friends in this forum who ever had same or similar experience? kindly please give me some advise.
Thank you guys.

So I'm in the early stages of planning a trip to Peru and Bolivia. Trouble is, I'll only be able to get a maximum of 3 weeks off of work. And there are so many items on my wishlist that would be impossible to fit into that short a trip, so I'm looking for advice on how to pick and choose.

For the first 10 days, I plan to fly to Lima with some friends, fly to Cusco, and see the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu (train / not planning to hike the Inca). Possibly we might fly to Arequipa first for a…

I have to post on the Portable Inca Trail toilets for two reasons?

  1. Unfortunately in the video below it seems to me that its not a decent job even though some people would say it is paid.

  2. Once the human waste is disposed in the proper toilet building located next to the campsite the guy who does the job cleans the portable toilet in the same water tap where most of the tourists wash and brush their teeth...

This was going on now for a few years under the title of good

I would like to spend 3 or 4 days at a lodge in the Amazon basin exploring the environment and seeing some wildlife. I think that we would be looking at flying into Puerto Maldonado and staying at one of the lodges along the Rio Madre de Dios or Lake Sandoval. I would prefer a smaller, more rustic lodge with good access to the jungle, but with the basic comforts of hot water and decent food. Not interested in spa services or luxurious accommodation. Can anyone recommend a place they liked? I was…

Has anyone any experience of using the Peruvian postal service (specifically in Arequipa) to send a parcel/box out of the country?

I have a box to send out but I can only seem to find jiffy bags and not cartons/boxes for sale. I have located the post office in Arequipa but they don't seem to sell postal supplies...

Thanks

Hi There,

I am looking to book accommodation for a homestay including tours in Baltimore Peru (with baltimoreperu.org.pe). They have requested to secure the booking I pay 20% deposit via Western Union. As I do not know the person/accommodation other than via email/website I am unsure whether this is safe. Does anyone have any experience with this or this homestay operator?

Kind Regards

Hello, I had been looking at visiting Iquitos for Amazon River tours, the golf course and the Bora Indians.
On research into the Bora People I have read that the experience is forced and inauthentic, I guess I was naive to think this too. So this poses two questions:

1: Do people have any good experience of visits to indigenous people in Iquitos or other places?
2: Where is the best place to experience the Amazon?

Thanks,
