I was planning to Peru next week but after the recent floods I am reconsidering.
First of all , my sympathy to the people of Peru for the damages caused by the flooding.
The plan for me was to spend 3 weeks in Peru following the "gringo" route starting from Lima and crossing the borders to Bolivia by bus.
What is the current situation in the country? I have read about roads been closed and many people killed. Also, I read that the rain will continue till mid April.

i am a British national and have a UK passport.
i have been told i need proof of onward travel but have no intentions of booking any flights out of the country.

my girlfriend and I will be in Peru and Bolivia from the 6th of June until the 6th of July this year.
Since it is high season, would you recommend to book the buses in advance? From what I could find online the buses (at least the big and most reliable companies like Cruz del Sur and Oltursa) don't run that frequently. On some routes (for example Arequipa - Cusco, Nazca - Arequipa, Cusco - Copacabana) there are only 2 or 3 buses a day available.

I am going to Peru in August and should be in Cusco from 24th August - 30th August. I was thinking of doing a day trip to Machu Picchu after seeing Ollantaytambo and then a Sacred Valley day tour as well as a couple of days in Cusco.
But now I'm thinking maybe it is worth doing the Machu Picchu trek? I probably won't get another time to do it.

Our family of three (including a 10 year old girl) is planning to visit Trujillo, Chiclayo, and Cajamarca for three weeks in July. Just wondering whether we have to worry about mosquito borne diseases during this time of the year. While there is flooding now (mid-March), rains will be long gone by then. Hello all, I am leaving to Peru on March 29th, arriving in Lima, then Cusco and Puno. How is the weather? I am concerned with the reports of mudslides and torrential rain lately. Can someone tell me how it is over there? Sometimes the media makes it sound worst than it really is. Also, news says there is no running water in Lima. Does anyone know first hand? It seems there are quite a few airlines doing the Lima-Cusco route, most at pretty similar prices. Just wondering if it's worth booking well in advance or if the prices are likely to be the same for booking 1 day ahead?
We fly in to Lima and I feel like we might not get an idea of how much time we want to spend there until we arrive, so it would be nice to just book the Cusco flights once we are there.

My best friend is in the Peace Corps in Peru and I am meeting her there to travel in late June through early July. We want to do a combination of hiking (we are both in good shape and can handle a lot), river/water/jungle, and maybe end with a little beach relaxation.
