thanks everyone!
happy healthy travels to all!
peace

Hi there, I just returned to Canada from Peru, spent lots of time in the Iquitos area of the Amazon which is a Yellow Fever area, and didn't have to show anything to anyone upon return. I was under the impression that it was needed but noone asked me for it. Wouldn't be unwise to get the vaccine though, sounds like something one would avoid if at all possible
Happy travels.
Does anyone know if it is possible to get the vaccine in Puerto Maldonado, Cuzco or Lima?
Do we need to have the vaccine before we arrive for our Tambopata trip? I just got a HUGE shock, to get the shot in Birsbane is $62 for vaccine plus $60 for mandatory "consultation". So I am looking elsewhere for this shot.

Hope this helps: if you are coming from a NON-yellow fever country, such as Canada, and visiting a yellow-fever country--such as Brazil--and then returning to NON-yellow fever country, Canada--you will not have to provide a yellow-fever certificate.
BUT, if you are coming from Canada (non-yellow fever) and visiting Brazil, and then moving onwards to a yellow-fever country (such as South Africa--you WILL be required to show proof of yellow fever shot.
Some countries are much stricter than others...when we went to Singapore we saw a young couple who had flow in from Brazi and they were literally sent over to quarantine and then turned around to be flown bakc home, because they did not have a yellow fever certificate.
I think the time period is 6? 9? months from the elapsed time of leaving the country with yellow fever.
I have read in quite a few places that the yellow-fever shot is offered in Lima at the airport and there are actually signs in the airport indicating this.
