I will most likely travel from Peru to Chile by land in a couple of weeks. Since I am a rail aficionado, I am thinking to cross from Tacna, Peru to Arica, Chile by train. From my research, it appears that the passenger train for this section started running again in May or June of 2016. However, I am having trouble finding information.

Does anyone know anything about this train? Any experience riding it? In particular, I would be interested in the schedule (times, as well as whether the operation is certain days of week or daily). If anyone knows any procedural info (like if we need to show up early for passport control or whatever), that would be appreciated as well. Thank you!
