My brother is meeting us in La Paz, and we´re gonna do Titicaca, then to Cuzco, and MP. If we have time we´ll do a jungle trip in to the north of La Paz. Then he´ll go back to the states from La Paz.

Does he need a sleeping bag for any of this (btw it´ll be June and Early July)? I assume most hostels have bedding, and we will be staying in hostels everywhere (except the possibility of the jungle tour). What about Isla de la Sol?

Thanks for any thoughts... I´m posting this in Bolivia as well

i traveled to similar places just a couple of weeks after you're going, and I had a sleeping bag. I wish I had brought a heavier one, since it was chilly at night. so, yes, you'll need a good one.

I think one will be in handy, besides this year seems to be a particular cold one so it all adds.

I travelled with a sleeping bag the first time, but the second time I was in the area I didn't bring one. I did bring a silk sleeping bag liner (thin sheet in shape of a sleeping bag). This should give about 5 degrees extra warmth. I used it for extra cleanlisness and warmth underneath the blankets that each hostel and hotel provides. There is not really a NEED to bring your own sleeping bag although some people find it comfortable and handy, for example on overnight bus rides (but some companies have heating) or in hotels that do not prvide enough blankets (check the room before you book! and why not just ask for more blankets?) or on treks (you can rent a sleeping bag from the tour company, and use your silk liner inside).
I was so happy that I'd left my sleeping bag at home, it saved me a lot of weight and bulk.
