On 24 December, we met a young Belgian couple pushing mountain bikes up the mountain doing the trek backwards. They were almost out of food and energy and we shared our food with them.
A kind hearted soul in Santa Theresa convinced them that the "easiest" way to get to Cusco was to bike over the Salkantay trek route.

Wonder if they made it OK? Anyone else see them on Xmas or later?

Surprised than none of the tour guides helped them.

Hi!

Thanks for asking, and sorry for the late reply. I‘m Johan, the Belgian with the bike.

We made it over the pass later that day, with a lot of pushing and carrying. The next day we rolled down to Soraypampa, but they told us they don´t sell any food, so we had to go on to Mollepata before finding anything. Afterwards the road to Cusco was quite easy.

Thanks for the nuts and bar! It really helped us to push up that last bit, we were completely exhausted by then.

If you want to know more about us, we have a blog : https://tohikeortobike.wordpress.com

Greetings,

Johan
