Hi,

We are planning to visit Lima, Arequipa and Cuzco in June. I wonder if anyone can recommend safe and preferably easy running routes out there?

Thanks.

Hi Hanna

When going to Peru with my son I always have to look for running tracks in order to let him train for running & jumping. In Lima you will find different stadiums, we usually go to the one at the entrance of Barranco but sometimes as well to the one in Miraflores, along the coast and slightly better. Ask a taxi driver for it. In Barranco you will have to pay a small fee, less than 1 US$.
In Arequipa you will find a stadium in Yanahuara, the residencial district, Avenida Bolognesi. You will have to pay a monthly fee which is around 3 USD if my memories are right.
In Cusco you might go to the Parque Central where there's a running track but don't expect too much of it. Admission fee is 1 S/. If you would need a trainer in Cusco ask for Profe Getulio at the stadium entrance.
You might as well contact perurunners.peru.com or the Federación Peruana de Atletismo www.fepeatle.com
Hope this helps

In Lima the upper part of the cliff, the bay is quite dangerous specially the way up through the street or any of the winding pedestrian roads. The part along teh "Malecón de Miraflores" is quite safe to be at any time.
