I think it is great that 3rd-world countries can develop customer bases abroad. Would that all their produce had the semi-stable shelf-life of Colombia gold and coffee, so that they could be transported by cargo ship!

I have been the last week in front of hundreds of sanky plants in the south western zone of Lucanas, in Ayacucho, Perú, while going to Huachuas, a town in the zone. Local villagers told me that it has taste similar to lemon, and that they use it to prepare marmalade. The cactus of the sanky seems to grow wild beyond 3000 meters above sea level. I didn't try it because people told me it was still not time to take it, and is the first time I see it in its habitat, as the first time I saw it was in a documentary about the Colca zone.
