I’m going to visit Peru at the beginning of April. After spending two days in Lima, I want to visit the archaeological site of Caral-Supe via Barranca by early morning bus and taxi. After visiting Caral I would like to continue my trip on the same day to Huaraz. My aim is to arrive at Huaraz late in the evening or at night time. Is the itinerary Lima-Barranca-Caral-Barranca-Huaraz possible within one day?

The problem is that it is very difficult to find any information about buses to and from Barranca. And yes, there are several bus company pages with timetable searches. The result is always ”Sorry. This itinerary is temporary unavailable”.

I have understood that there are many buses from Lima to Barranca. But someone said that there are only few bus connections per day from Barranca to Huaraz, maybe just one. Still, there are several buses per day directly from Lima to Huaraz. Do those stop also in Barranca? I wonder if someone can tell me something about bus timetables from Barranca to Huaraz or Huaraz to Barranca. I appreciate any help.

Mobil has day busses. They have a stop in Barranca.

Forget travelling by bus, your best option and the quickest way to travel this route is by colectivo (shared taxi) which depart when full (4 persons). I travelled this route by colectivo in the opposite direction last year, which has a journey time of around 3h 15m, costing 40 soles. When you get to Barranca just ask around where the colectivo's depart for Huaraz. In Huaraz they depart across from the football stadium.

Thank you for the answers! Indeed, colectivo could be better alternative. I'm also considering of travelling this route the other way round: at first from Lima to Huaraz by night bus and after two days from Huaraz to Barranca by collectivo.

You have a better view from a bus.

For better views I'd much prefer the front passenger seat of a car (colectivo) where you can see all around and straight ahead (with the option of the window down). Nicer than being stuck in the back of a bus.

Taking a night bus to Huaraz first makes more sense and then return to Barranca afterwords. The colectivo's in Huaraz depart across the street from the football stadium. You won't have to look far as they'll most likely approach you calling out for 'Barranca, Barranca'.

Hi amazingjourneys, do you remember the time when the collectivo leave Huaraz to Barranca? Is it available in the beginning of the night?
