I am in Chachapoyas now and came across a website for a lodge in Levanto called the Marvelous Spatuletail. But aside from their website (which is incomplete) I cannot find any info on this place or how to get there from Chachapoyas. Has anyone been to this lodge who can provide any info?

Ask the reception staff at your accomodation in Chachapoyas.
They usually know where the public transport to each nearby destination can be found

I have acrtually stayed at that place many years ago, it was not named the Marvelous Spatuletail and it was a basic and cheap place which received extremely few guests. I passed in Levanto during a trek (on foot) in the area. I don't think there is any public transport.

You can ask at your hotel or go to iPeru (tourist info) on the Plaza de Armas in Chachapoyas (very helpful). We took a minibus to Levanto and hiked from Levanto back to Chachapoyas on the Inca road. But I did not see the lodge.

As #3 mentioned, the iPeru on the Plaza are extremely helpful and would be a good source for up to date info.

Iperu did not know about the place in Levanto., we had to show then the website we had found. They did, however, help us find transport. It was actually a very basic place, not a lodge but a casita, constructed like the traditional conical homes with thatch roof and orchid on top. Willemspie was right, he slept in this place I am sure. We spent the night but had difficulty finding any food other than bananas and bread from a store. The hike steeply up to Yalape, for us, was very difficult under a blazing sun and trying to keep pace with the 14 yr old young man who was assigned to us. Maybe if he had followed the road instead of such steep shortcuts it would have been easier. We mainly went for the possibility of seeing the spatuletail.

I don't know where you are going next but another place we were hoping to see the spatuletail was in Leymebamba. It is also a nice town with a great museum and opposite the museum there is the Kenticafe. We saw many hummingbirds there but no spatuletail unfortunately. We then continued to Cajamarca. Very scenic road.

In response to #6

We also went from Cajamarca to Celendin to Leymebamba over the beautiful (and exceedingly hard-on-nerves) route. We stayed a night in Leymebamba and walked up the pretty stone path to the museum, which was very interesting. We also went twice to KentiKafe and watched the hummingbirds while savoring good coffee and sandwiches. We did not see any spatuletails there and did not pay extra to walk their trails because each time there was a driving rain!
