Looking for suggestions as to where to stay in Iquitos and tours for the Amazon please. I'll have around 2 weeks
You might want to check the website of Latitud Sur, a French ONG, that makes tours and homestays in the Amazon region around Iquitos. This is their FB page, if you would like to have a look ! https://www.facebook.com/latitudsur.org?fref=ts

I'd recommend a lodge from the latest Lonely Planet book called Otorongo. I've been there twice now in the last 4 years. I spent 5 days there the first time and 4 days there the second time. Anthony (the owner) is an ornithologist from New York and a super nice guy.
For ~100$USD a day, you get transport to/from the lodge (100km down river), a private guide and navigator for you for the entire stay, nice simple rooms/showers at the lodge, food, drink all included. You can literally do whatever you want there - camping in the jungle, hiking, exploring remote tributaries, night hikes, see local villages, animals, plants, fishing, etc etc. You just have to ask and you can do.
You can find their office just off the plaza on the street by la Casa de Fierro towards the river, in the same building as Mad Mick's Bunkhouse.
Thank you Maraci, funnily enough I had visited this website a few weeks ago but forgot to bookmark it. This will probably be the lodge I will go with unless I get persuaded otherwise. I enjoy fishing so thats a big plus, a night out under the stars and to top it off hummingbirds outside my room, I'm sold. Do you have any photos you'd care to share?
Jason

I don't have my pictures uploaded anywhere online at the moment, however you could follow otorongoexpeditions on instagram. Their page on trip advisor has a decent amount as well (and pretty good reviews).
Good luck!
