Need advice about a reputable company in Cuzco that organises 4 day Inca Trail Walks. We are travelling from australia and prefer to be in a small group so we can get to talk to the guide more about the history as well as get to know the people we are travelling with. Plan to be in Cuzco late august early september.
Any advice and tips will be very helpful
Thank you

Two years ago, I did the 4 day Inca Trail with Peru Treks. Everything about this company is professional and (most importantly for me) they are trying to be a responsible organisation, putting profits into local projects (schools) and treating their porters well. The guides know their stuff and you will get plenty of relevant historic and cultural information. One point - at the end of the third day when the guide tries to get you to leave the bar (the only one on the trail) to go and see "something interesting", GO. He will take you a 5 minute walk to Winaywayna, which you will not regret.

Thank you for your quick reply. Information sounds worthwhile. What is the name of the company?
Thanks

Yes, i agree with the first response. We did the four day trek with Peru Treks just two weeks ago and they were fantastic. Our guide was lovely and very knowledgable, the equipment (sleeping bags, tents etc) were in excellent condidtion, the food was really good, they took really good care of me one day when i wasn´t well, and they included little extras that it didn´t seem to be standards - eg. one day when it was raining, when we stopped for a snack and a rest, our group got to sit under a big dry tent and have hot drinks, while other groups were huddled under the trees in the rain with only water. They are about middle of the price range but well worth every cent!

We booked via the Inka Trail via the internet in advance for January of this year. When we got to Cusco, we found treks for even $230 – quite a lot less than we had booked for (and as backpackers, money has to last). So on seeing this, we went to the agency and had a few comments with the staff there over why we were paying more – noone wants to get ripped off over the internet!

After doing the hike, I would not regret paying that bit more as it is money well spent. We saw other groups that did not compare in any way to our guide (who made the tour – knew so much) porters and their equipment and fantastic food. We had a group of 7 which was a great size.

We went back to the office after the hike to let them know that their service was worth every dollar!! Llama Path are very recommended.

Hi
I completed the Inca trail yesterday with SAS Travel. This company may charge a little more than others, but the whole organisation was amazing. THe guide was an archealogist and spoke excellent english. THe equipment was superb as was the whole service for 4 days. I would highly recommend them.
