Hello,
as a single woman, do not spend the night at the airport and don`t even half consider staying in Callao. Go for Miraflores, you can get something nice to eat, have a stroll through the parks with a sea view and be safe. Here is the way to avoid being ripped off by a taxi driver when you arrive at Lima airport:
1. Take the airport bus that charges around U$8 and will drop you off at your accomodation of choice. You can buy the ticket at a booth before you even step out into the international arrivals area.
2. (My preferred option): Walk out of the arrivals area, ignoring all of the offers of taxis. The price to Miraflores from the airport is 20 peruvian sols (around U$7) There are taxi drivers who will quote prices up to U$35. Ignore them, or be rude to them, take your pick. Walk out of the terminal building and turn left, heading for the domestic departures area. Offer a taxi driver who has just dropped someone off 20 sols to take you to Miraflores. They will be happy for the return fare and be very unlikely to rip you off.

Good luck!!

I contacted some of them, waiting for their answer ... I'd like to be sure I can get back to the airport before I book my flight. After all it will be in the middle of the night.

Just to comment on one point: you don't need to be on the 6:00 AM flight to Cusco to avoid the weather conditions. The winds pick up after noon, so you can take a late morning flight and be fine.

Ok, I contacted several hostels. Only communication by mail seems to be a problem - I didn't receive an answer for days (even though some request specifically on their site to use e-mail for making a reservation). Is this normal, or should I better try to call them?

I recently returned from Peru and stayed at Mami Panchita while I was there (mentioned above). We were very happy with the hotel and their willingness to accommodate whatever we needed. They offer transportation from the airport to the hotel for US $15- one of their drives will pick you up. I also had difficulty getting Peruvian hotels to respond to emails. I did find this hotel was generally fast in responding (and they speak five languages!). If you don't get an answer from them within a few days, you could try calling. You should be able to reach someone who speaks English. Good luck!
