Hi,

I was just wondering whether anybody has taken the Inca Express bus from Cusco to Puno.

It stops at some Inca sites on the way.

Are these worthwhile stopping in or do you think its best to take the bus directly to Puno?

Thanks for your help

There are two competing companies, Inca Express and someone else. I can't remember which I went with but I think it was the other one.
According to some, one gives you more time and one is slightly cheaper.
I went from Puno to Cusco, and in Puno both offices are on the same street but the one I visited was on a corner 2 minutes away. I bargained and got $5 US discount.

On the trip, you see:

The Cathedral in Urcos - covered in gold and quite amazing. Giant gold sun hangs over the pulpit used to convert the indigenous.
Raqchi Ruins - See Inca buildings as they actually were - mostly adobe!
Pukará - Pre-Inca culture, one of the defining cultures. Here you'll see the work of the Inca's ancestors in the small town's museum. Actual ruins are up on the hill but not open to public.

Various things pointed out on the way...
An old english house, the bad part of Juliaca (pretty much all of it), some glaciers on mountains. All you can eat buffet lunch was included.

Evelyn,

This is not the place to advertise... it's a forum to provide free, helpful advice from people who have been there, done that, etc etc etc

That's right. I went with First Class. I paid $20 talking to them directly.
You wouldn't be able to get such a price through an agency.
If there are more than one of you, try to get an even lower price - the buses are never full.

Evelyn's price is one of those designed by the types of agencies in Peru that exist specifically to cheat tourists.

$45 per person for the bus is a rip off. I paid $20 and could have got it less if I really tried.
