Hi all,

I'm looking for booking four bus tickets from Lima to Paracas at end of July, I've seen the Cruz del Sur line but really can't understand if I can only buy a general ticket or book places for the day and time I'm looking for.

Does any of you has done this with Cruz del Sur or any other company?

Thanks

Andrea

It's just like buying an airline ticket, including the assigned seats. So, yes you have to choose the date and time w/ Cruz del Sur. But you don't have to decide now. Usually you can get your bus tickets one day in advance, for flexibility.

Cruz del Sur is mostly a company for long distance night busses. For shorter legs and day busses, there are local companies that have frequent departures, often without the need to book. For Pisco (Paracas) and Ica, it is PeruBus (previously named Soyuz).

So in the end if I want (and I want) I can book already now my seats for a given date and time in July get already a ticket and simply go to the bus station that day as I would do with a flight or in any case I'll have to go somewhere the day before to convert my online booking into a ticket and reserve my seat? Or Even there is no way to reserve seats?

We are a family of four, we are planning a typical tour and I would like to book the most I can before leaving so the idea of discover when there I can't do a transfer a given day and need to wait the day after is a bit scaring me... the entire trip would get screwed up.

(By the way did you book with them?)

Tanks again for your help

Thanks for help. Yes I saw about Soyouz, but there you cannot definitely book, I understand with them there are almost hourly buses so one or the other should be able to get, this is the idea, isn't it?

I also saw somewhere something like Cruz del Sur will bring us till Paracas, while with soyouz we will be on the Panamerican nd we will have to get an extra taxy to reach the town.

If I look at the PeruHop website the Cruz del Sur service become a crap and the best is their service, as I have totally no experience of South America I'm a bit confused.

We simply want to be sure we can go to Paracas in a comfortable way on day 1, sleep over there, visit the Islands on day 2, sleep another night go back to Lima the morning of day 3 , go to airport and fly down to Arequipa.

Any suggestion tips .. is welcome

I've done this with Cruz del Sur. It's easy - you can book on their website and print out your tickets (or at least you could last year when I did it), it takes 4 hours and drops you right in Paracas (no need for an onward taxi).

Buying a couple of days in advance should be fine.

You reserve your seats at the same time you buy the tickets online. Print the reservations, and you're done. Then when you are in Lima, arrive at the southern Cruz del Sur bus terminal an hour before your bus leaves. It's that simple.

I did it last week. I didn't even print the tickets cause I was travelling. But I booked online and then checked in and handed over my passport and they printed a ticket for me.

I used a vip bus of Perùbus company. They leave from Soyuz bus terminal.

I did not book on line, though. Just went to terminal, and bought a ticket.
