We are currently traveling throughout Peru and are interested in purchasing some works from local artists. Many people have told us to search in the Miraflores district of Lima for artists' galleries. However, we still have some questions which we cannot find answers to.

1) Which painters should we look for?
2) When purchasing a painting (or other quality artwork) are you given a certificate of authenticity?
3) How much is too much to spend on a painting (roughly 80 x 60cm)?
4) Is there any way to guarantee that the painting is a real work of the artist or a copy?
5) How do you know if the painting is of a high enough quality to retain its value?

Once again, we thank you all for your help!

MY favorite Painter is QUIROGA....
he makes amazing NAIVE tropical paradise tableaous.. I have two paintings of his, I brought to Toronto.
Another GORGOEUS one (pricier ) y PEña... de MANCORA.... he makes AMAZING, paintings..., go with the flow,, look a this , whatever moves you!! There is a painter from Trujillo or PIura magnificent, but also pricier, but i cant remember the name, But the paintings MOVE YOU....Go with your instinct, that is what ART IS

Also the stores make over 50% and starve the artists they buy from.. Really sad.
