Bought both for hiking in the high altitude areas. I'm returning home soon to U.S. and since I'm a backpacker I am wondering about bringing back the candy and gum. (I know better than to bring back the leaves) Any experiences to share? What if I remove the packaging so the word "coca" doesn't appear, would it pass?

Would it pass? The customs officials maybe yes, though candy is food, and most food isn't allowed. But often in the US international airports there are dogs trained to smell drugs. I have no idea if such the like would trigger them to start barking. If that happened, you can be sure your trip through the airport will be longer than you'd like.
