Hi,

Just back from Peru, had a great time! Unfortunately when I checked my visa statement this morning I wasn't too happy.

By the end of our trip, we were short of money, so I used my Visa card one time at an official bank (Credito Peru) to get 800 PEN. This morning, there are over 10 withdrawels (total of 600 USD) on my visa statement at Bank Credito in Lima on dates when we weren't even in Lima! So be aware! I thought I could not go wrong when using an official bank... but here we go. Called Visa, they will refund me (luckily)... but it could have been different!

Still, enjoy Peru, it's a wonderful country!

Cindy

Did you use an ATM or did you go inside the bank

Last month, I used my VISA ATM/Debit card at Lima airport, also in Cusco & Aguas Calientes. No
problems, no extra withdrawals. I would suspect the bank where you used it, not VISA. I did find that VISA was much more commonly accepted than MasterCard in Peru, and ATMs I used did not use the same network that my MasterCard has (VISA was OK).

I've never even been to the Philippines and someone went on a massive spending spree with my card there. What does that say?
