Can anyone tell me if they are strict about the 5kilo bag limit on the train to Aguas Caliente. I know what it says in the literature. I have booked to stay
In aguas for 2 nights and then go by train to Ollantanmbo for 7 days. Will I need to leave my pack my hotel in Cusco and go with the bare minimum.
Some have told me they had taken a pack on the train.
Anyone with recent experience?

The train and luggage have never been a problem. General advice: don't travel with too much luggage - for your own convenience.

Why don't you take the train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes? It is cheaper than from Cusco (Poroy) and there are more departures. That way you can leave most of your luggage in your hotel in Ollantaytambo.
