I just came back from a one months vacation in Peru. Besides some severe problems with diarrhea I only had one negative experience. A travel agency in Cusco where I paid a lot of money for a trip to Machu Picchu did not provide the service I had paid for. They put me up in a hotel in Aguas Calhentes where I would not let my dog sleep and this was only one of the agencies failures. The name of this travel agency is Jenly Adventures located at Calle del Medio 127 in Cusco.
The government own tourist information iPeru is a very helpful organisation and also good for reclamations regarding local businesses and local airlines.
I can recommend the following three hotels where I stayed and which have a good price-quality ratio: Hotel Aleman in Lima-Miraflores, Hotel Cusco Plaza II in Cusco (near Plaza de Armas), and La Hacienda in Puno (Lake Titicaca).
Have fun in Peru….and don’t forget the charcoal pills!
