Having read everyone's recommendations and done a bit of research I have now decided to use my ATM card for money transactions. I am trying to decide which one I should take. One of them has the plus sign on and the other the Cirrus. It seems that the Plus would work in more machines or are they both equally available? In that case I would take both.

Would someone please be able to tell me how much it would be to use the ATM? I am asking because my bank is charging a costly $USD5 per transaction!! The ATM fee would be on top of that of course

What kind are the ATM machines in Peru? The one where you slide the card or the one where you have to insert the card? I am asking because I read somewhere in this forum that sometimes the cards get chewed up by the ATMs. My bank will not provide me with more than one card for me and one for my husband. In that case the slide the card ATM would be most useful! Do they exist?

I will also have my VISA card but I would not be able to withdraw cash from the ATM. I would still be able to use the card though right? It seems that the VISA is the major credit card in use.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Banco Continental (a/k/a "B24") charges a flat US $2, when withdrawing US $. I believe the max W/D is $400-$500. Your VISA provider likely charges 3% commission; check it out. I never encountered a "swipe" ATM.
