Hi

Can anyone help with some advice?

I arrive at Lima airport at 04.30 in the morning after an epic flight from the UK. I have another flight booked to Santa Cruz in Bolivia which leaves at midnight, so I am looking for somewhere to crash from around 06.00 until around 22.00.

I will mostly be sleeping I presume so was thinking an airport hotel would be the best bet, but ideally would like somewhere I can go out for dinner so somewhere with restaurants nearby would be good.

Does anyone have any recommendations? A hotel that does airport pickup and drop off would be ideal.

Also, are there any hotels that would allow early check in as I don't want to have to pay for 2 nights?

Thanks

Chris

I would not place too much importance on choosing a hotel that is close to the airport. Wherever you stay, you will need a taxi or minibus to travel to and from the airport. Wherever you stay, whether it is Callao ( the airport neighborhood ), San Miguel, Lima Centro, Miraflores, Barranco or anywhere else, the airport is not far away. And neighborhoods other than Callao tend to be safer and more pleasant for informal sightseeing, just taking a short stroll, that sort of thing.

The construction of a hotel in the airport of Lima is beginning.

* The new Costa del Sol Ramada, on the airport premises (actually, right in front of the main airport terminal, to the chagrin of many), is progressing quite quickly and scheduled to be operational sometime in mid-2007; however, as a four-star hotel, most on this board would probably balk at paying the rates they will be charging. Since the hotel is still under construction, it does not yet appear on either the Ramada or Costa del Sol websites.

The Ramada starts at about $143.00 per night and will probably look for two nights. Another option popular on a different site is the Manhattan inn, it is very reasonable and has airport pickup. With the money you would save hop on over to miraflores and treat yourself to one of many world class restaurants!
