Various government agencies have set up ´´Centros de Alegria´´ to help street kids and child beggars and reduce their exploitation by adults. There are accepting donations of clothes, toys, books, candy etc for Christmas. I am not sure of all the locations but there is one at la casa de la niñez which is on Chimborazo 832 y Av. 24 de Mayo in the historical center. Ph no. 2586 693.
