Hi, does anyone know where the bus from the airport to downtown Quito drops you off? Clearly the pickup point is at the airport, but the website doesn't show if the bus would take me anywhere near Hotel Finlandia.

If you’re planning to take the Aeroservicios’ Tababela-Quito bus, this one doesn’t makes any stop on the way until reaching the final destination (Quito’s former airport), so from there you should have to take a taxi to your hotel.
If, in the other hand, you’re planning to take the public bus from Tababela to Quito, this one does has some stops along the way before reaching the Rio Coca bus terminal, such stops are on the Quito’s surrounding valleys (Tumbaco, Cumbaya), but not in Quito, and doesn’t goes to the city’s downtown, so, again, when getting the bus terminal, you should have to take a taxi to your hotel.
Finally, your hotel isn’t located at downtown at all, is by the northern part of the city.
Hope that helps. Good luck!

Many thanks for the info. Just so I'm clear, are you saying the aeroservicios bus runs between the new airport and the old airport, not from the new airport into Quito city?

It was our experience in December that there was no practical public transport from the new airport to Quito, only this bus to the OLD airport and transit from there. A taxi to the old center was $31.

Our experience was that the bus taking you from the new airport to the old airport, and then requiring you to take a taxi from the old airport to final destination in new or old town cost about as much as a taxi and took longer. The taxi form new airport to mariscal for us was $25-28 USD. The taxi from old airport to mariscal was $10.00, so with the bus fare it really wasn't worth doing.

Yep the buses run from the new airport to the old airport, on arriving at the old airport you would then need to take a taxi to Hotel Finlandia :/

If there is more than one of you travelling it may well be much easier and not much difference cost-wise to take a taxi directly from the new airport to your hotel. As you come out of the arrivals lounge (after passing through customs) into the airport terminal there is a desk where you can book your taxi, there are fixed rates depending on what part of Quito you are going to, so not much chance of being ripped off. IMHO its a good and reliable service. Taxi should cost around $25 - $28, can't remember the exact costs.

We were told that a taxi to the Mariscal area from the new airport would be $27 but to the old historic center $31 because it's a little farther, not to mention worse traffic.
