I do have a ticket to go back home from Lima, but it's at the end of July, so they might say they don't know if I'l exceed the 90 days... Anyway, let's see what I'll do.

So they check your passport when you leave the country but not when you enter it?

They do check when you re leaving the country you haven't exceeded the 90 days but as you are only going to be there for about 60 days there will b no problem. Azbuceadora do they scrultinise your passport for time spent in the country when you leave the country by bus etc and not by air?

I think you're way overthinking this whole thing. You've got a roundtrip ticket. Upon arrival in Quito, Ecuadorian immigration will stamp your passport with the entry date but will not ask you for your plane ticket. What you're doing is what a lot of tourists in South America do: arrive in one country and leave from another. When you leave Ecuador, immigration will stamp your passport with your exit date and they will take note of your entry date. You're not planning on overstaying the 90 days, so seriously, there's nothing to worry about. Try to relax, and have a good time.

....and report back as to how things went.

There's a website somewhere, sorry I don't know the name, where you can print out a phony
return ticket to show to immigration in Quito or Guayaquil. But this isn't to prove you'll stay
no longer than 90 days, it's to prove you have a way out of the country. Sometimes
immigration asks for it, though rarely. But directly to your question, you won't have to prove that you'll be out within 90 days, although the ersatz ticket should have you returning within that period.

You can also go to UA, DL or AA website and actually book a return, print out the reservation,
cancel the reservation (you have 24 hours to do this), and take that printout with you to
Ecuador.
