Hi..we are taking a Galapagos cruise in July. We are finding quite a difference in airfares to the Islands from Quito, although I've read on this forum the fares are pre-set. We are booking the cruise through galapagosislands.com (Galapagos Travel Center). The air fare they quote is $565 vs LAN website $505 vs Orbitz $310. Each for the same LAN flight. What am I missing? Is there any reason not to book with Orbitz?
Thanks in advance for any info.

Is there any reason not to book with Orbitz?
AFAIK, it shouldn't be any reason to avoid booking with Orbitz but read online reviews to get an idea of their current reputation (I'm not American and I'm not updated about it). It would be also a good idea to verify what their terms and conditions say in the case they can't guarantee anymore the price you were offered.
Hi I was in Galapagos on January through festivaltourecuador.com that company gave me the oportunity to buy on my own, now they are organizing a tour to Galapagos to my relatives for August and the air fare is 501.24 USD AEROGAL, this company do not charge more, ask to your company why? or they are trying to get more money from you!!!
I had the same problem with supposed big companies with beautiful websites at the beginning they gave one price then when I was sending the transfer bank, they emailed me that the price for the cruise has changed and other more wrong things.. be careful with this
A year ago when I wanted to book it was still not possible to buy an airplane ticket directly from TAME or Aerogal's websites from abroad, but it was possible from LAN. At that time LAN had a price of $402. However, I decided to go on a cruise and booked through galapagosislands.com and they gave me a price of $525 for a ticket with TAME that I could change dates of, some thing I wanted to be able to do, and which I was not sure if I could do if I booked from LANs webpage. If I had been sure of the exact date of my return trip I would have booked from LANs website.

Thank you for your comments. I found the fairly standard price with Lan around $500. The Orbitz $300 fare turned out to be a "senior" rate, which I am, so I snapped that up. Same flight, etc with Lan. Hopefully there will not be a hidden snag, but it looks legit. Thanks, again.

Take care with this price of 300 $. There a different prices for ecuadorian and foreign visitors. Normal flight to Galapagos and back costs between 460-500 $ for foreigners if you buy it directly at the airline counter. 300 $ seems to cheap. It's posible that you will have to pay the difference at the ckeck-in counter.
