Hello all! Does anyone know where to get a good but cheap motorbike here in Quito?

If you are looking for a new bike check out Motor Uno or Juan Elijuri (sp?)
As far as used bikes go check out the moto mecanicas. Bolivar motos on Juan Leon Mera and Ramon Roca often has used bikes for sale or ads from people who are selling. You can also check out Clinica de Motos which is just off 10 de Augusto behind the Kiwi. These are good places to start and they can direct you to other places or people that might have motos for sale.
Do be warned though. If you are on any sort of time crunch to get the moto and documents into your name, the process might frustrate the hell out of you. I'm going through it right now and I'm 3 weeks behind on my schedule to drive down to Santiago. I'd suggest you have the previous owner get the moto passed through the revision tecnica before you agree to buy it. otherwise you'll have to do it and calibrating the gases is a time consuming and frustrating problem. And you'll be sure to run into few others during the notarization process, the SRI and finally the matricula. But don't let me discourage you. It will all be well worth it!!
Good Luck and Safe Driving

Check out http://listado.mercadolibre.com.ec/_CategID_1763 Its the Latin America ebay. There are many shops around that sell motos. For me a good bike would be a Suzuki TS185.....Google it to read all about it.
Another good web page is http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hubb/

Or you could check out The South American Explores Club for info
