hi all,

i heard about a volcano crater (at 5000 metres altitude), which is filled with water, so you can swim in it - does that really exist and if yes, where exactly and how do i get there the best way?

thx

Nope I´m afraid that doesn´t exist...

There is a lagoon in Altar´s crater, at 4600, but that water should be round 2 - 3 Cº

may be the person who told you this smokes too much!

I know that, but if someone is interested in unusual volcanos then they may also be interested in the ones in Colombia

The mud "volcano" in Colombia that I know of near Barranquilla is not actually a volcano although it looks like a miniature one. That mud is damned unsanitary I must say, what with all those people crowding in there one after the other, exfoliating, kids peeing, and lord knows what. I got an ear infection in that nasty thing. Not that any of this has anything at all to do with freezing cold lakes in Ecuador...
