Hi All,
This is just to share my week experience on Angelito Cruise. It is a 16 people cruise plus 8 people crew. I went for the Itinerary A (Baltra, Seymour, Chinese Hat, Bartolomè, Genovesa, Santiago, Rabida, Santa Cruz, Espanola, Santa Fe, South Plaza, Baltra). Our guide, Maja, was excellent, she has been working on Galapagos for 20+ years and she is still very enthusiastic about the wildlife and vegetation on each island.
Every day we had early breakfast and were on land at 7.45 (some days a bit earlier), the excursions were always very easy, there are defined paths out of which you cannot go, every few minutes the guide stopped to fill us with explanations about the animals and the plants. After the morning excursion we usually had a snorkeling session among, rays, white tip reef sharks, turtles, colorful fish, once sea lions (the best one in my opinion). To be honest I didn't have the best snorkeling ever in Galapagos but still very interesting and nice. After lunch we were usually on land again around 14 for another walk. The islands are quite different from each other and every time it is interesting because you can see different animals and plants on every islands. As everybody says it is amazing to see animals so close, they are not scared at all and if you like pictures you can take tons of good ones, even focusing on details. We were lucky enough to see the three types of boobies (blue footed, red footed and Nazca), frigate birds (in the mating season, that was great), albatrosses, owls, hawks, finches, pelicans and some others whose names I don't remember, some islands were plenty of land iguanas, marine iguanas and everywhere you can see hundreds of sea lions, at Puerto Egas (on Santiago) there were some fur seals. I also got to see a couple of snakes and some penguins a part from giant tortoises on the highland of Santa Cruz.
The food on board was good, on the upper deck there are 10 sun beds where you can relax and get tanned.
Every evening we had a briefing session about the next day in order to know what to expect.
A part from the itinerary which is definitely very important, a key role in the success of the cruise is played by the guide, I have been very lucky and I strongly recommend Angelito based on my experience.
After the cruise I spent 3 days on Isabela and I realized how important it is to spend some days on a cruise to visit the more remote islands and to have a deeper knowledge, on Isabela I was not able to exploit 100% my time.
