Hi All

Unfortunate thing just happened to us in the Hotel Metropolitan in Loja, Ecuador. Went out for dinner, stupidly left camera in hotel room. Camera still there, but we´ve only just noticed that the memory card has been swiped :´( now we are in Quito.

Have been taking a few photos over the last few days and have only just realised its been using the camera´s internal memory......Hotel doesn´t seem to have an email address (its in the LP though). Our spanish is pretty basic so phoning is kind of out of the question (certainly by us anyhow). We´re off to the police station tomorrow to report it, but we´re not holding our breath. Any advice on what else we can do? We´d gladly pay twice the price of the memory card to get it back in one piece.

My advice is to avoid this hotel at all costs.

Regards

Claire

It is rather strange that they took the card and not the camera as I would have thought that the camer a would be worth more than the card to thieves. i t makes me wonder who the thieves were. Have you not considered that you may have lost the card and not realised it before you got to the hotel? After all the camera would be worth more than the card unless the thieves already had a camera and needed another card and were too stingy to buy one. I think that most thieves would take both when they were stealing unless they thought that the theft wouldn't be noticed for a few days if they only took the card???? Very strange I think but I hope you have some joy out of all this eventually.
