Hello, I will be traveling in Colombia with my spouse and 2 young adult kids at the end of January. "highlights." We are interested in spectacular scenery, possibly hiking/trekking, and local/village life. We have less interest in cities. We are happy to take public busses when possible, and would like to stay in ecolodges and other close-to-nature places. I am afraid that this itinerary is too much moving around. I am inquiring about The Lost City Trek. I have done some research and found a few companies offering the 4 day trip for 850,000 COP or $293 USD. That seems a little high. After doing Salkantay (back route to Machu Piccu) I know that it is always a little cheaper to book from your hostel/hotel on the spot, however I worry about the trek being filled or unavailable. Also, is it possible to take a private taxi from Neiva to Villavieja (or from Villavieja to Neiva) no matter what time of the day or the night?
