We are looking into getting a boat from Cartagena to Panama, have met a captain called Freddy who´s boat is called El Joshua. His wife is called Paula. Has anyone done the trip with them? Any good or bad things we should know. Would really appreciate it if you have travelled with him.

Thanks very much in advance

I don't have much experience of easter weekend in Latin American countries, so....what should I expect to be available in Colombia over that weekend?

Will I be able to do a diving course in Taganga, for example? I'm really hoping it's not a complete shut-down...

Early February did the "Lost City" trek, a really great trek ... views, tropical rain forest flora and fauna, indigens (native peoples), a satisfying turn around point, no real weight to lug (I hate carrying more than 5 kilos), bathing every day, sleeping in hammocks, AND when tired, an ecological alternative to actually walking ... (more on this later). (For a short piece on the indigens with useful links and a picture: http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/ngm/0410/feature3/

I arrived at Hotel…

semana santa

Hello,

I know all prices are jacked (increased) up for semana santa, but I still want to travel and I'm looking for an economic solution. I'm thinking of going to ciudad perdida but if that doesn't work, due to time constraints, what are some other options that aren't too expensive? I'll be traveling with a few friends, we're university students, not looking for any kind of resort vacation, and heat would be nice.

Thanks!

I don't suppose anyone can help me with contact details for the Moromar hostel in Taganga? I've tried the email featured on previous threads, but it doesn't seem to work....

Many thanks

Heard from Shaun at Macondo that there.s a doable route along the pacific coast to get to panama -- cheaper and (i guess) faster than the caribbean route..

however, sounds to me that in order to get to the pacific, you have to pass through Choco -- which doesn.t have the best of reputations..

any thoughts?

Mike

Heya,

In Bogota, and heading home shortly.. wondering if anyone has suggestions about bringing some goods back to Canada to make a decent profit.. also, am looking for low cost souvenirs/gifts..

In the past i.ve heard amazing things about leather handbags, but my knowledge on these items is slightly less than 0. -- LP suggests looking for leather on Calle 19 -- any other suggestions welcome!

Thanks,

Mike

Update

Am plaaning to visit Colombia for first time at begining of April. Have been watching the news and the political situation after Saturday. Noticed that noone has posted since the 4th.

Just wondered whether anyone there, especially in Cartagena, could comment on the feel of the place currently, any problems, tensions etc..
Many thanks
