I'm flying to Bogota at the end of July to start a years placement as an English teacher, however the flights from the UK are madly expensive - like £800+.

I was thinking about taking seperate flights from England to Spain and then Spain to Bogota. So does anyone know of a cheap airline that flies from either Barcelona or Madrid to Bogota?

Thanks!

With just 3-4 or maybe 5 days, which one would you pick? The idea would be to have a day or two in the city itself, and then a day or two or three taking some side trips. Don't really care about the nightlife.

I will be spending June, July and August in South America.

The first 6 weeks of my trip, I would like to remain somewhat stationary and take intensive Spanish courses. I have been debating what country to do this in, but I am really leaning towards Colombia. I was thinking maybe spending three weeks in Bogota taking courses and another three weeks in a smaller town.

After that, I will need to get to Buenos Aires by the middle of July to meet a friend. We are going to travel for about 6…

Has anybody used a English speaking tour agency or private driver in Bogota and near surroundings that they would recommend? If a private driver, approximately how much does the person charge and do they provide the car? Thank you

Hola!

We are flying to Caracas and want to head straight to Columbia, to Santa Ana.

The LP mentions there are buses, does anyone know times and how often it goes?

Would love to get out of Caracas asap!

Muchas Gracias
Juanita

Hello everyone. After reading this forum and going through LP's guidbook, I thought it may be a better value to find an apartment-hotel to rent in Cartagena. The little information that I got seems to point that these apartments may be found in the Bocagrande area. I know Spanish, so language is not an issue. Any recommendations will be appreciated. Thanks

Cartagena

Posted this in general South America, probably will get more attention in this threat. ;-)

Hi all,

Two questions:

  1. Can someone PM me the name of a good guide in Cartagena? Female preferred.

  2. I'd like to head overnight to one of the islands off Cartagena. Can someone recommend a good one? Would like to stay the night -- prefer a comfortable hotel. Would like to go for the seafood and the beach.

Any suggestions appreciated.

I will be travelling with my wife in my car, tomorrow Monday May 5th departing around 11 AM, from Bucaramanga to Bogota. I will stop at Barichara and maybe one or two more towns on the road (you help me decide).

I will have unused seats and I am planning to take one or two people by less than the price they would pay for a bus ride. Thus I would recover a part of gas and toll costs and you will be accompanied by a cooler driver!

Hi.

We are planning, or hoping on, a trip to Providencia, but it´s way too expencive
flying there.

Has anyone tried the cargo boat that departs from Cartagena, and
got some information and experiences about that option?

Feedback much appreciated!! By mail is also brilliant; jazzfudge(NOSPAM)start.no

There were 6 in my group, that was 2 years ago. Maybe more go now, but could not imagine 30 ina group. It is a slippery trail in may places with a thin trail and drop off.
