Does anyone know how Minca compares to the efe cafetera region around Filandia or Salento?

I'll be spending the month of August in Colombia and I'm trying budget my time as best as possible. I definitely want to visit a coffee farm and fit in as much ecotourism as possible, and I figured, since I'll be spending a good bit of time on the Caribbean coast and in Parque Tayrona, it would save some time if I just went to Minca and skipped the coffee region. However, if the experience in Minca and…

My partner and I are going to Colombia for ten days over Thanksgiving (mid-late Nov). We're planning on checking out Bogota and Cartagena and I'm wondering if one has better weather than the other at that time of year -- I know it's the end of the low season so some rain is inevitable, but would it make sense to spend more time in one city than the other? I've also heard some conflicting information on the amount of rain to prepare for -- is this monsoon style, like an all day downpour, or more…

Hi everyone,

Firstly, thank you to regular contributors - I have been stalking these pages for a month or two now, and it has helped shaped my itinerary enormously. We (couple mid 30s from London UK) will be in Colombia for 3 weeks between 14th December and 4th January. We are coming to Colombia for nature (I was a childhood birdwatcher and am keen to do at least one tour), Caribbean beaches, countryside, colonial towns and interesting cities. We both study Spanish and are up to intermediate…

First, I am arriving in Bogotá by plane, inmediately after that I am planning to go to Zona Cafetera (Armenia, Pereira and Manizales) or to the Coastal Region (Cartagena, Barranquilla and Santa Marta), what option would you choose? I have read about the Zona Cafetera cities and they are very interesting, can anyone help me or tell me about the coastal cities? I would really appreciate any help. I suppose…

I'm trying to plan my itinerary for Colombia in August and as I have a short amount of time- I want to go from Medellin to Salento on a Sunday. I have heard that Flota Occidental has a direct bus, but it's hard to find information on the website. Does anyone know if it runs on Sunday? Do you know the hours it runs by change? Thank you!

We'd love a few different perspectives on this so please answer if only in brief.

In a nutshell, my partner and I are torn and need to make a decision tonight (won't bore you with why).

We've read that the mosquitos are horrendous trekking to Ciudad Perdida in later October, it's putting us off doing it at all. We hate polluting our bodies with loads of medicines and this is the only region we're visiting on our Central/South America trip where malaria is prevalent. We are already getting…
