Good info all around. Thanks for taking the time to respond.
Sorry to bore you with the details, but our return flight on Sunday is out of Bahia Solano. Our flight into Bahia Solano was cancelled for the day before (Bahia Solano airport is closed on Friday October 22), so our only choice is to fly to Nuqui! Therefore, we must get from Nuqui to Bahia Solano. Our hotel for Friday night is in Bahia Solano and they don't know about boats from Nuqui to El Valle. From El Valle we take a taxi to Bahia Solano as it is much shorter than the boat ride all the way around the peninsula. That's the whole story.
We have now managed to negotiate 350,000 for the one way trip. By the way, it's a 1 way trip for us, but a round trip for the boat captain.

We're looking at pretty much the exact same situation -- planning to fly into Nuqui on a Friday, then travel to El Valle and depart from Bahia Solano.
Drpeter, can you leave a description of how this worked out for you? Can you give us the contact of the launch operator you used? Do you think a cheaper price could be negotiated onsite in Nuqui upon arrival?
Thanks!
Hello.
I'm sorry to report, I don't recall who I used as the operator. I had the page bookmarked but my laptop bookmarks were lost during a recent update. I found the captain's name using a google search for "Nuqui to El Valle boat charter" or similar. We paid 350,000 COP and didn't see one whale! We were soaked the whole way due the high speed of the (open) boat. Not the best leg of the journey. I was not very impressed with either Nuqui or El Valle. Both rather unremarkable and sad to see all the garbage on the coast. Seeing whales might have helped!
Sorry not to be of more help.
OK, I found it: http://www.colombiafacil.com/en/locations/nuqui/
Captain Sapi is who we used. His cell number is given.
" When you’d like to travel to El Valle, call captain Sapi in advance (Cel: 311-337 28 39, Cel: 314-764 93 08). He will wait for you in Nuquí when your are coming from Guachalito."
He did the job, but like I said, it was a high speed ride. Not a pleasant one. And we saw 0 whales. I think he just wanted to get us there and be done with it.
Personally, the best part of that leg of the trip was the waterfalls, "Salto del aeropuerto" and swimming hole right near the Bahia Solano airstrip. It's about a 15 min hike from the air strip.

Ok, thanks for the contact and the tip about the waterfalls. Will give Captain Sapi a try. Sorry to hear about the trash problem -- was kind of the same story when we visited the Caribbean coast.
