Hi LP friends!
Has anyone stayed in any of the hotels at Pablos old stomping ground turned corney theme park? We are wanting to visit the park and Rio Claro and the prices for both places look kinda comparable. The photos of the hotels in the Hacienda Napoles look really nice but I'm dubious... Any tips?
Thanks,

Paige

I've never been to Hacienda Napoles, but I stayed at Rio Claro about 1 year ago. The area is quite nice, and I thought our accommodation was pretty good as well. There are a few different options available. You can can stay in the Cabanas near the highway, or get a room further in the reserve. It's about a 1km trek from the park entrance to the accommodations further in the reserve. Walking all that way with our luggage wasn't a really good option, so we just opted to stay in the Cabanas on the highway, near the park entrance. The rooms further in the reserve are deep in the forest, whereas the cabanas aren't. There isn't much in the immediate area, and meals were included in the price of our stay. However, if you like nature, then it doesn't really matter. The river flowed right next to our rooms, and the water was clear and shallow. Definitely refreshing after a long hike in the nature reserve.

All in all, I'd go back again. I'd prefer to stay in a room further in the reserve, but I could stay in the Cabanas by the highway again if necessary. The only thing that kind of put a damper on the visit, was the fact that it heavily rained the night before. Basically, Rio Claro, turned into Rio not so Claro. However, that wasn't a deal breaker. We still enjoyed swimming in the river and walking along the forest trails.
